Our Identity & Values
Our Identity & Values
Striving to be the most responsive to our customers’ needs, to support their success is the universal theme throughout the offices, hallways and production departments at Cambridge Elevating.
This theme contributes to an Atmosphere of Excellence that no supplier in our industry can match when considering overall value offered by the product quality, pricing & customer experience.
How it all started
Delivering elevators for your forever home
Founded in 1988 with a focus on wheelchair lifts and stair lifts, Cambridge Elevating gradually evolved to specialize in small elevators serving the residential and low-rise commercial markets.
The current owner, Derek Hamilton purchased the company in 2004. Recognizing the accessibility need of home elevators would expand to the public’s desire for greater convenience, the company focused on supplying elevators to the new home construction industry at the expense of the accessible product lines.
Since that time, the company’s customer base has grown, as have staffing levels. From five employees in 2003, Cambridge Elevating now has 60+ workers. What was a job shop producing a few elevators a week is now a well oiled made-to-order elevator producing machine for homebuilders and progressive homeowners in every major city across North America.
To accommodate this growth, the company moved into a building the firm purchased in 2018 that’s more than twice the size of its former facility. The new home features amenities like a lounge, fitness area and showers. The Sr. Leadership team works on employee culture as much as they do on cost control and other important facets of a business.
While Derek’s son, Jamie Hamilton holds the title of President, strategic and important managerial duties are shared with colleagues Josh Bruce, VP Operations and Richard Wright, VP Finance.
Exceeding All Safety Standards
Peace of mind is knowing your elevator’s key safety systems have been thoroughly pre-tested during production. Cambridge Elevating only uses premium components to give you the smoothest, safest ride possible. Safety light curtains are a standard feature on every model, which isn’t the case for many residential elevator suppliers.
