Electric Drive
Electric home elevators are powered by a 3-phase VFD-controlled motor, with no power unit required. Only the compact controller needs to be mounted, making them ideal for homes with limited space, such as stacked townhouses. Because the machinery is located at the top of the shaft, electric elevators are also well-suited for areas prone to flooding. With a simple chain-driven system instead of hydraulic cylinders, electric elevators can achieve longer travel distances while maintaining smooth, efficient operation.
Hydraulic Drive
Hydraulic home elevators provide a quiet, smooth ride, gently lifting the cab with a cylinder and pulley system. A compact power unit and controller are typically installed together in a machine room, closet, or dedicated space near the lowest landing, keeping all the mechanics out of sight. The 2:1 roped design means the elevator cab travels efficiently while requiring less space than a direct hydraulic system. Because all the major components are located at the bottom, hydraulic elevators operate quietly and are well-suited to residential settings.
