Stiltz Home Elevators in Ontario
About Stiltz Home Elevator Company
Stiltz Lifts is a UK-based company founded in 2010 by two Australian entrepreneurs – Mike Lord and Lachlan Faulker. The two entrepreneurs identified there was a gap in the market for a lift that could be easily installed in existing homes in a cost-effective manner with minimal preparatory construction work required.
Their reputation and demand for the lifts grew, resulting in the company expanding overseas and opening an office in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to serve the North American market.
In 2015, a new office in the North of England was opened to further expand their brand in the United Kingdom. That same year, a new purpose-built factory in China was commissioned to meet the growing production demand.
The Duo Alta Home Lift was introduced in 2016 to please homeowners who wanted to add a lift to their home without sacrificing space or aesthetics. It boasts a curvedglass cab that lets riders easily see their surroundings as they travel within their home.
In 2019, the company announced a new option for their Trio Alta Lift model. It’s a six-meter travel option for homeowners with exceptionally high ceilings or homes with three levels allowing for flexibility. Stiltz, a residential home elevator company, continues to expand its network of global dealers to serve the needs of all individuals who wish to gracefully age within their home
Stiltz Homelifts Company in Ontario, Canada
One of the most unique features about a Stiltz Home Lift is the half-door height. Unlike other lifts, Stiltz Home Elevators offers riders the experience of not feeling fully contained within the lift while traveling through two floors.
Another important Stiltz home elevators feature is a battery back-up system ensuring Stiltz’ shaftless elevators remain operating even in the event of a power outage. Another safety feature is an interior telephone allowing users to call for assistance in the event of an emergency. Other safety features include: an emergency stop button, weight limit sensors and constant pressure controls for moving the car.
Features that are optional include a fold-down seat, interior grab bar or full-height door. The full-height door is traditionally on other Homelift models from other manufacturers. Full-height doors offer riders complete safety inside the car when travelling through the floor aperture. Interior grab rails are also found standard on other manufacturer models, a feature proven to help those unsteady on their feet feel secure while in the lift.
Stiltz through the floor lifts are solutions designed to make mobility within the homeeasier and more convenient. They are an alternative to stairlifts, which effectively achieves the same result but in a cruder manner. Riders must transfer on and off the chair at both landings, which can pose significant challenges for many seniors
The Trio Alta model was designed to be the ‘Wheelchair Lift’ model with an interior footprint large enough for a full-sized wheelchair or 3 users.
Stiltz shaftless elevators operate using a self-contained rope drum drive system that rides atop the lift cabin. The rope drum keeps the lift stable and level while the braked gear motor provides power and control equaling a ride with minimal noise and vibration.
Stiltz lifts in Ontario cannot be plugged into a standard domestic power socket as they run off 220v power. Therefore, a dedicated circuit will need to be provided near the lift installation.
These shaftless elevators were designed with accessibility in mind. Whether individuals have mobility issues or find stairs a challenge, a Stiltz home lift ease the burden of those daily struggles. They have been designed to allow homeowners to stay in their home and avoid moving or make major modifications to their home. Stairlifts do have the ability to move riders up and down between two floors but where Stiltz lifts fills the accessibility void is the entering and exiting portion. When transferring onto or off the seat of a stairlift, many could find it challenging and dangerous transferring onto a chair at the top landing of a stairway. Stiltz Home Elevators provide stress-free travel between two floors.
Shaftless Home Elevator Models in Ontario
Stiltz Has a Selection of Home Elevator Models in Canada for Those Looking to Invest in Their Home and Age in Place Gracefully.
Stiltz Duo Alta Canada
The Duo Lift is an ideal substitute for a stair lift, specifically sized to transport two individuals. It has a compact design with a footprint of less than 7 square feet, enabling it to be installed in almost any area of a home without requiring significant structural modifications.
The Duo Lift has various trim packages that address whether you want a completely transparent cab (the “Vista”), or the “Classic” which offers a clear door only. Depending on your home’s layout, buyers can also choose a standard on/off same side or Duo Thru Car. If you live in Ontario, Canada call to learn more.
Stiltz Trio Alta Canada
True to its name, the Trio Lift can accommodate either three passengers or a standard-sized (manual) wheelchair. It was created with accessibility in mind, with the aim of breaking down barriers for those who use wheelchairs or other assistive devices at home but cannot manage stairs.
Although it only requires a 13.5 square foot area, its spacious cab makes it possible to transport large items like luggage or laundry. Like the Duo model, the larger Trio also offers a Thru Car option. If you own a residential home in Ontario, get in touch with us to learn more.
Cost of Stiltz Home Elevators
The cost of a Stiltz residential home elevator in Ontario, Canada is comprised of the Stiltz home lift cost, plus the cost to modify the home to accept the device. Depending on the desired model, they both differ in pricing and tax exemption status in Ontario.
The Duo line is the more affordable option – exact pricing depends on your State or Province. Buyers that need a lift to accommodate a wheelchair will be interested in the Stiltz Trio. The cost of a Stiltz Trio is generally more than the Duo line but should qualify for tax exemption status in Ontario, Canada. The Trio is a game changer for individuals that need assistive devices to move about their home. Please note, optional trim packages and features will be extra.
The scope of the preparatory construction work to modify the home involves creating an aperture, or hole in the floor and ceiling between the two floors the lift is serving. While this process is generally straightforward, issues can arise when dealing with floor joists that are oriented in the opposite direction or when electrical, HVAC or plumbing lines are present. Additional costs may also include obtaining structural engineered drawings and permits. While permits may not be mandatory, it is highly recommended to obtain them given the nature of the construction work.
